NIFB
This November, a combination of associates from the Owner Marketing Installer team, the VMR team, and the Graphic Design Team (Hoffman Estates) came together to volunteer their time at the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) through ADP’s Volunteer Paid Time Off Program. The NIFB is committed to feeding hungry members of 13 Northern Illinois counties, and provided ADP associates with the opportunity to contribute to the communities in which they live.

The NIFB distributed more than 35 million pounds of food last year and currently serves over 61,000 individuals every week through their network of more than 660 food-assistance sites (food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, youth activity centers and other food assistance sites.) Individuals and groups work in the warehouse on a variety of projects, including sorting, evaluating, cleaning, and packaging donated food and non-food product prior to distribution.

The first group of volunteers; Linda, Cory, Tim and Mike, worked to repackage donated meats into smaller portions to send to their partners. Their job was by far the messiest. The second group of volunteers; Rich, Neil, Nick, Tracy and Helene, were tasked with sorting various bread products for distribution. The 4 hour shifts went by quickly, and the teams were dirty by the time they left.

With muscles screaming and smiles beaming the volunteers left knowing they’d made a difference in the fight against hunger.
